School profile

Maryhill High School is a catholic founded Girls’ O’ & A-level Boarding school located at Nyamitanga hill, Mbarara district. It was started in 1961 with the aim of promoting the education of the girl child to build the nation. The school has since grown and expanded not matching with the corresponding resources to support the teaching and management functions.

The school started as an O’level boarding school, single sex(girls) and attained “A” level status in 1980 but did not have enough facilities most especially the classrooms and accommodation until 1994 when the old girls and the parents completed a two storeyed classroom block which was commissioned by His Excellency the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Motto

“Domine Dirige Nos” directs all the Maryhill fraternity to call upon the Almighty God to lead, Guide, and direct us make the right choices in all we do. By living up to thus motto, all who have passed through Maryhill those still here and those yet to come are expected to be a light of the nation on the hill.
